In Doncaster, a Foodbank at Christ Church, Thorne Road, opened its doors on September 2013 and since then two Distribution Centres operating out of Bentley Church and Rossington Church.

The foodbank is an ecumenical venture supported by many churches throughout the area, including our own parish of St Paul’s.

The Foodbank Centre’s are open as follows:-

• Christ Church, Thorne Road, Doncaster
o Wednesday 10am to 12 noon
o Friday 11am to 1pm

• Bentley Baptist Church
o Monday 1pm to 3pm

• Rossington Community Centre, Holmescarr, Grange Lane
o Thursday 10am to 12 noon.

The Foodbank main purpose is to provide support in crisis to both individuals and families.

Food parcels are given to voucher holders only and they will contain food for 3 days, based on the number of people in the household.

Up to the end of March 2018, we as a Parish have donated 13 tons of food, which helps the demand from approximately 60 voucher holders per week.

The kind of donations/food stuffs required are biscuits or snack bars, cereals, coffee – instant, fish (tinned), fruit juice (tinned), fruit juice (carton), jam, mashed potato – instant, meat (tinned), milk(UHT or powdered), pasta, paste sauces, rice, rice pudding (tinned), soup, sponge puddings (tinned), sugar (500gms), tea bags, tomatoes (tinned) and vegetables (tinned), toiletries and nappies.

These goods can be left in the Church Entrance Hall on Mass day’s – i.e. Sunday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

We would like to thank everyone for their past and continuing support of this project.
