Chair of the Pastoral Council Job Description

The Chair of Pastoral Council’s main duties and responsibilities includes:

  • To chair the 6 meetings held per year along with Open Parish Meetings.
  • Prepare in conjunction with the Parish Priest, the agenda for each Pastoral Council Meeting.
  • Collaborates with the Parish Priest in developing and reviewing the pastoral plan of the parish.
  • Has an ongoing and open dialogue with parishioners and parish groups to assess the pastoral needs of the parish community.
  • Observes discretion in the confidential matters arising from Parish Pastoral Council Meetings.
  • Provides positive leadership, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Have good interpersonal communication and able to work harmoniously with Parish groups for the common good.
  • Providing practical support at Parish events
  • On occasions representing the Parish at Deanery / Diocesan level
  • Attend the Parish Finance Committee meetings.
